Custom Rods

Interested in custom carp rods or having a set of fresh guides put on let us know via email what you are thinking and we can get you a quote.

American Tackle Atrex, Harrison, and Century blanks and build components are available. Based off the rods that we carry from those companies.

Custom rods aren’t cheap so you’ll be spending $350+ per rod depending on what the build is.

Guide replacements are $15 per double foot guides, $12 for single foot and tips plus cost of the guide for a single rod. Custom trim is $2 extra per guide wrap. If you are replacing the guides train on multiple rods a better price can be given.

Shipping costs will be up to you.

Build times are hard to estimate as it can depend on if all the components are in stock. Once everything has been received it can take a week or longer to finish the builds.

We are currently only offering custom builds for spinning style carp rods.

The ADV 1 carp rod is a well-proven tool with a fine pedigree. The design concepts have been derived from the work we have pursued with Danny Moeskops – a passionate carp angler and the finest caster in the world and. When you have the design input of Danny – you are directly buying into the experience and skills this legend has accumulated over decades of angling and casting experience. Danny is a passionate carp angler also happens to hold all the significant world distance casting records and has held these for nearly 15 years. There is nobody walking the planet that has his records, experience or respect: his ability to contribute to a rod’s design has kept him at the top for a generation.

The Century C2-D (Command Distance) has been born out of the success of the Century C2 with some anglers asking us to manufacture a more powerful big brother. When Century launched the C2 it quickly became established as the bench mark standard for an all-round carp rod due to; fish playing ability, light weight modern build, quick tip recovery and ability to be used in close margins and distances which suit most venues. The C2 remains that ultimate all round rod but it was never designed as a casting rod in the FMA/SP/FMJ grouping, hence the requests we received to have a Distance Casting version and the launch of the C2-D. This new 13’ 3.75lb rod is suited to casting 3.5oz – 5oz leads.

    • Weight is still the same – we weighed the Fuji Titaniums vs the American Tackle Titaniums and both guide sets are the same.
    • Both Titanium frames are the same K guide shape and same standoff heights so from a distance you would not notice the difference.
    • The Fuji Titanium was a slightly more shiny finish, the American Tackle Titanium is a more natural titanium finish.

9’ CQ (Close Quarter) – 3 equal sections
10' CQ (Close Quarter - 2 unequal length sections

A mobile angler will always be looking for opportunities where fish are hard to reach or trekking into remote swims with light yet practical kit and this where this new CQ rod is designed to make an impact. Mobility from Century implies transportability, lightness, power and playability and the way the 9’ CQ has been constructed addresses these vital functions from the outset of the rod build. Firstly the design has been built from scratch and we have managed to bring lightness and power yet still deliver a unique playing action from a 9’ 3 piece travel rod which can act as a replacement for your main 12’ carp rods when needing to travel light. The other scenario could be to use a 1x or 2x CQ rods as a margin stalking rod to complement your main carp rod setup if heading away on a barrow loaded weekend trip. Finally we know there is demand from anglers to use a shorter rod when abroad and using this 3 piece version from a boat is a perfectly suited match.

This model is designed with enough power to tame fish that sulk or rush for cover and just do not want a trip to the bank. We have called this rod a close quarter rod and undoubtedly it succeeds in this area but it also has a range that will surprise many. The butt section stores and releases energy via a taper lock joint into the mid-section and generates surprising tip speed – given the short overall length. This interaction between butt and middle section overcomes many of the inherent problems associated with other travel rods. Generous guide diameters particularly in the upper section (size 16 tip guide) caters for dense weed venues and avoids line choke when fewer guides are fitted on a shorter rod.

To accompany this 3 piece rod will be a 3 rod padded case which has been designed in conjunction with Thinking Anglers. This will allow you to protect your rods and reels during transit and also accommodates the CQ landing net on outside of the case to provide you a full angling package that can be stored safely out of sight in the boot of your car.

Century informed us they stopped doing the free case with purchase of 3 rods in 2022. We can still order the case for the 9ft rods.

We have given FMA’s a casting weight rating rather than a test curve. Our focus is to produce the best long-range and playing carp rods available: extensive trials confirm the 2 models available – FMA1 for casting 3-4 ozs and FMA2 for casting 3-5 ozs are truly sensational. We use Century double leg 50 pattern SIC guides, configured to give the same performance we achieve at Tournament. The rods are finished in Century’s UVA resistant silk matt finish. We fit a light weight Matt Black reelseat which is engraved on the sides with FMA and Century logo. A full length JSR handle is fitted below the reel seat with a very slightly flared out butt area and black butt cap to complete Stealth look.

  • Harrison Rods Ballista 12ft 3.0tc

The Harrison Ballista is a design classic. Like an air-cooled Porsche, it delivers the benchmark in performance and bullet proof build quality. When we introduced it, everyone else was making Carp rods with spigot joints. All the other Carp fishing rods seemed heavy and big in diameter. The tips of the other rods were thick, and unwilling to bend to the strain of a fish. Other rods were made in the same fibers from tip to butt, unlike our multi modulus approach to design. Kevlar was still being pushed as a wonder material, and others were flirting with Dyneema and Boron. Today, many of our competitors have followed the lead we made with Ballista, some even cynically and unashamedly copying our tapers. But, that's not a problem, as "He who aims to keep abreast, is forever second best" Piet Hein. That is why, in 2006 we are still selling them like hot cakes! So let us recap on what makes Ballistas a firm favorite across Europe.

  • Harrison Rods Cerbera

    12' 3lb and 3.25 Test curves

Kigan 50 3D Ring set for long casting.

    Attractive matte blank.

Fuji 18 DPS reel seat to handle a wide range of reels.

    Discreet minimalist logos and branding.

Smooth powerful action for middle to medium distance.

Cerberus was a many headed beast that guarded the underworld by seeing in several directions. Cerbera, is designed to look in two directions, to handle fish close in, and be a versatile casting rod in the 100 to 130yd range. The action is fractionally less fast than Torrix, and a little quicker than Chimera. It is born out of both of these, having carbon 1k carbon fabric finish like a Torrix but with the tip tapers of the Chimera. It is impossible to make a true all round rod, but this comes close.

So in a nutshell, we have aimed to make this the best sub £200 rod on the market with British build, Harrison design and the best of components. If you compare the build quality and uncompromising components specifications, I hope you will agree we have achieved this.
