A new long shank pattern that has proved outstanding during field testing. Ultra-sharp, long fine needle points combined with an aggressive shape that achieves incredibly secure hook holds.

Especially effective on Ronnie’s and also bottom bait rigs where it ‘flips and pricks’ instantly.

Available in sizes 4, 5, 6, 7 & 8 and made using the same twin tempering process as the existing Cryogen hooks which results in exceptional strength and point durability.

The relative proportions of a long subtly curved shank, 9° in-turned eye, wide gape and long hypodermic like point result in a hook pattern that is incredibly effective. On Ronnie rigs the hook point is in an aggressive poised position making it a very efficient hooker with superb hook holds and it is equally effective on bottom bait rigs, where the hook is very difficult to eject and turns and catches hold securely even without the aid of a line aligner or ‘kicker’.

Cryogenic tempering is a process used to improve the molecular structure in steel which in turn reduces stress and improves strength and wear resistance. It is used in many disciplines with Formula 1 engine parts being a classic example.

Bench tests on initial samples proved to us that the new tempering processes combined with improved designs and heavy forging resulted in hooks that were 25-30% stronger than other Tufflon coated carp hooks in the same wire gauge. So rather than having to improve strength by simply increasing wire gauge, new manufacturing processes have allowed us to maintain optimum wire gauges for each size which allow for fine, ultra-sharp needle points which are now more durable than ever.

These hooks are the business! So far every hookup on them has been solidly placed and haven't had a dropped run on them. Really great design, my new go to.

Weather has been cold, but have managed to get out some to try out these new hooks. I have been hesitant to using any Long Shank Hook, Used size 7 for my pop up rig. Its early yet, need more time for a true assessment, but I don't believe I will ever use anything but a long shank Hook again, maybe for a special rig for special conditions. In my general fishing I'm so sold on these ESP Cyogen Long Shank Hooks. They keep a sharp point even after several catches. The hook hold is the key factor here, the ability of these hooks to flip and turn is remarkable, I fish mainly the River and the currents are no joke, you need a solid hook hold when they run for the snags and current. Catching them is one thing, but landing a Big Angry Carp is the prize.
